EtsyDAMs Round Robin Doll WIP
Yeah… I just realized that I haven’t blogged about this amazing project yet. I know. I’m a slacker. So mealymonster made the clay and hair part. Yes. You can say it. She’s very, very, very talented.
I attached the clay torso to an old doll stand that I just happened to have laying around, using the wire that mealymonster left hanging off of the torso. Now she can stand up.
Here’s a close-up of that… in case you needed to see it better. Ha!
Then I crochet the 1st layer of what will become a tentacle dress. This was done with acrylic yarn, pipe cleaners, and some super glue. Notice the side profile view and then the front. I’m currently working on the 2nd layer of this dress, which will most likely be seaweedy and done out of crochet cotton.

Fingerless Cuffs… Now Shorter and in Wool.
After finishing the all time consuming wholesale order of 170 lip balm orders, I decided to rest my hands for one day and then started these beauties. I had found the yarn while frantically looking for 4 more skeins of a particular color for my wholesale order. So instead of looking at it for months (years?) I figured I should make these cuffs. They. Are. Awesome.
This is the small size. I’ll be eventually getting around to a large size (after I make another small size for myself in cotton with a bit of nylon for stretch) and then a pattern release! Even Little Man wants a pair… so there might be a kids version shortly after that.

No More Ebay
So I received my eBay invoice in the mail today. I’ve also closed my store down. Knot By Gran’ma on eBay no longer exists. I can’t afford it.
I’ll be selling strictly off of Etsy and through my personal email from now on. (look left!)

DAM Category on Etsy Coming Soon
Apparently it’s finally going to happen! I’m so very happy to hear that Etsy has heard us DAM (Dolls and Miniatures) artists and realizes that there needs to be a Dolls & Miniatures category on the site.
AWESOME!
And I’m so glad I got to throw away a handful of cash opening up an eBay store because I was tired of waiting for 2 + years for this to happen. Ah well… It’s not going to happen until October 6th, so maybe I’ll get a sale before then and make my cash back.

Finally WIP Pictures of the Fish Lady!
I have been working on this doll… I promise. I have not been keeping up with the picture taking process of working on this doll though… and I lost the second WIP picture for about a week. Funny, it was on my camera the entire time. Anyway. Here she is so far.
Obviously I had to start with her head and “body”. I used acrylic yarn and cotton yarn to do this part. The stuffing is polyester fiberfill.
Then, using cotton thread, I added her tail fin. I’m not sure if she’s part mermaid or part fish. We’ll cross that bridge once she’s done. I also made an extra fin, but by the time this photo was taken, I didn’t know where I was going to put it.
I decided that a fish (or mermaid) lady should have a fin on the top of her head. She’s got some bulging fish eyes and then I decided to do some crazy time intensive (like 4 hours just for this part and it’s still not sewn on) beaded shell stitch embellishment. But at least now she’s covered up and it’s really pretty. She’s just a bit dangerous to handle, as she’s covered with pins holding her parts on. Ha!
I’m not sure if I’ll be listing her on Etsy or on Ebay yet… we’ll see how long it takes to finish her. I have a giant order due at the end of the week and a round robin to participate in.

My New eBay Shop
Hey Knot By Gran’ma, why is there suddenly an eBay logo under SHOP KNOT BY GRAN’MA (look to your left)?
I’ve opened up a shop on eBay. I didn’t want to, because it is more expensive than Etsy, and for a plethora of other reasons, but I had to. Holiday shopping is coming up. Etsy will not create a category for Art Dolls (and Miniatures too) and apparently the search function (and other parts of the site) isn’t working properly either. So they have given me no choice other than to make it so my pieces are seen by (hopefully) the buying public. eBay has a category for me. I’m slowly moving most of my art dolls and art doll monsters over to eBay.
Here’s my new logo for my new eBay shop. Hopefully Etsy will freaking get its act together and this will be a temporary thing.

Fingerless Cuff Pattern on the Horizon
Originally uploaded by Knot By Gran’ma
I think I’m finally happy with the result here. These are a good length, let me use my hands, are a thin cotton yarn, and look fantastic. This is only one out of the pair. I’ll be checking my pattern as I do the other one… they kind of take forever to make, so bear with me. Once I’ve finished the other glove, I can figure out the sizing issue and post this for sale. Hooray!

Charcoal Fingerless Gloves

Does this prove that I have been a little busy? I’ve been working on a new “fingerless” fingerless glove pattern out of a finer cotton. They take forever to make and writing the pattern at the same time is making them take longer.
I also started a new doll. She’ll be a hybrid fish-girl. So far I have her body completed… mostly.
More pictures soon!
